A violent upheaval is going on in Nicaragua!
Nicaraguans have been seeking refuge in increasing numbers in Costa Rica due to the unrest taking place in their country since April. osta Rican Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Epsy Campbell announced that Costa Rica has built two shelters to house Nicaraguan migrants fleeing the country’s violent political crisis. “What’s happening in Nicaragua is unacceptable, and it’s having direct consequences on our country. The world has to focus on Nicaragua,” Campbell said.
The local expats in Grecia are supporting our friend, Romeo Gallegos. He is a potter who fled to Costa Rica - in exile from Nicaragua as his life was in danger there.
There is a GoFundMe page set up for those interested in helping the family.
In addition, many of us are also buying some of the exquisite ceramic pottery that the family makes.
We are happy to help where we can!
I think this one looks beautiful in my living room!
Costa Rica has asked international organizations for help in dealing with the growing crisis.
